Low-emission zones in Paris

An environmental zone or low-emission zone is an area where traffic restrictions apply to protect the environment. The rules are set by a city or a department, temporarily when serious air pollution is measured, or permanently. There are two types of environmental zones in France:

  • France Zone à faibles émissions (ZFE) (Low Emission Zones)
  • Zone de protection de l’air (ZPA) (Temporary environmental zones)

In Paris and the surrounding area, a permanent low-emission zone (ZFE) is in force: The Grand Paris Low Emission Zone/Zone à faibles émissions.   Vehicles with Crit’Air stickers E, 1, 2, and 3 are allowed inside Greater Paris Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm (Les véhicules avec les vignettes Crit’Air E, 1, 2, et 3 peuvent entrer dans la zone Grand Paris du lundi au vendredi à partir de 8h à 20h).
