The Low-emission zone in Munchen / Munich is an environmental zone or low-emission zone where traffic restrictions apply to protect the environment. The rules are set by a city or a department, temporarily when serious air pollution is measured, or permanently. In Munchen / Munich the Munich Umweltzone is always active. This permanent zone covers a large part of the city of Munchen, but the zone covers the area within the middle ring of Munich (2R).  However,  the ring itself is not included.
