Low-emission zones in Paris
An environmental zone or low-emission zone is an area where traffic restrictions apply to protect the environment. The rules are set by a city or a department, temporarily when serious air pollution is measured, or permanently. There are two types of environmental zones in France:
- France Zone à faibles émissions (ZFE) (Low Emission Zones)
- Zone de protection de l’air (ZPA) (Temporary environmental zones)

Paris
In Paris and the surrounding area, a permanent low-emission zone (ZFE) is in force: The Grand Paris Low Emission Zone/Zone à faibles émissions. Vehicles with Crit’Air stickers E, 1, 2, and 3 are allowed inside Greater Paris Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm (Les véhicules avec les vignettes Crit’Air E, 1, 2, et 3 peuvent entrer dans la zone Grand Paris du lundi au vendredi à partir de 8h à 20h).
The zone is indicated with signs. Stricter measures can be taken in the event of extreme air pollution (pic de pollution). You can find more information here and here.

GeoJunxion created a worldwide geospatial database of low-emission zones, congestion zones and limited access zones.
